Full time courses in Ó Fiaich Institute of Further Education run from September - June

You will receive an acknowledgement letter via email.
School leavers over 18 who have completed the senior cycle.  Adults over the age of 21 returning to education who may have not completed the senior cycle but are deemed by the college to have the necessary competencies to complete the course.
First round interviews take place the end of May.

Applications receive on or after the 9th May 2016 will not be interviewed until late August.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for example.  On all correspondence, please include your name and the name of course you applied for.  Silly emails like the example given aren’t suitable for work placement or for progressing into your career or onto Further or Higher education.

If you cannot attend for interview please contact the office by phone at 042-9331398 as soon as possible and we will try to reschedule an interview for you.
Most importantly, read the email and any text messages very carefully beforehand, these outline very clearly what you need to bring along with you to interview.


You will be told in your interview letter (sent by email) what you need to take to interview, you must take a reference with you from either a teacher or employer.


In the case of photography or art related courses you must also take a small portfolio of your work with you.

Garda Vetting is mandatory for all of our Childcare, Nursing, Sports & Holistic Health and Wellbeing Courses.

You will be asked at interview to complete a Garda Vetting application so please make sure you have a list of all previous addressed you have lived at.

You accept an offer by paying a deposit on €50.00 (non-refundable) by July to hold your place and the balance of €150.00 is due the end of August.  

All fee due dates are clearly listed on the offer letter.

If you are not taking your place offer please let the college know as soon as possible. Please note that the 50.00 deposit is non-refundable.

Student Services: €200.00 this includes a non-refundable deposit, refer Note 1 hereunder

PPC (Gov Levy) €200.00*( Exemptions may apply refer Note 2 hereunder)

Examination fees: QQI Level 5 €50 QQI Level 6 €60

Registration charges by professional bodies - These will be outlined under Additional fees for applicable courses. 

Additional costs which may include: Books, Uniforms, /Clothing and Equipment (e.g. Chefs Knives etc.)

Note 1: A non-refundable deposit of €50 to reserve a place on a PLC course.

Note 2: The following categories of participant are exempt from paying the contribution:

  • Full medical Card holders in their own right and their dependent children
  • Those who are eligible under the student grant scheme
  • Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) OR Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) ALLOWANCE.

The following courses have additional fees:

  • Travel & Tourism: Amadeus - €245 Ready For Take Off €265 Total €465
  • Holistic Health & Wellbeing - €445 ITEC Fee
  • Beauty & Complimentary Therapies - €248 ITEC Fee

Please allow a few weeks after 1st round interview for offers to be made, first round offers will be sent out by the end of June.
The PLC Student Contribution is an additional €200.00 fee which the government applies to all PLC course service providers.  It came into effect on 1st January 2012.  However, anyone in receipt of the following is exempt from the fee - Full Irish Medical Card, Back to Education Allowance or SUSI Grant.
You accept a place offer by paying your registration fee 200.00 online. All first round place offers MUST be paid in full by Friday, 26th August 2016, or your place will be reallocated to another candidate.
You can purchase a pre-paid credit card in any of your local shops please go to https://www.3v.ie/ to view a list in your local area.
Second round interviews take place in late August if you are successful you will be offered a place immediately.


IMPORTANT NOTES TO REMEMBER:

  • Your email address and mobile phone number must be CURRENT – Don’t use childish emails please.
  • Garda Vetting is compulsory for all of Childcare, Nursing, Sports & Holistic Health and Wellbeing courses, know your previous addresses before you attend interview as you will be required to complete application. Please bring proof of identity.
  • You will be notified by email or text about your interview, READ CAREFULLY – this outlines what you need to bring with you on the day of your interview.
  • First Round Interviews take place in May
  • First Round Offers are made in June
  • Second Round Interviews take place in late August
  • Second Round Offers are given immediately
  • The PLC Student Contribution €200 – a mandatory Government Levy must be paid in full by Friday, 26th August 2016
  • Those in receipt of Back to Education Allowance or SUSI Grant and/or holders of Full Irish Medical Card are EXEMPT from the PLC Student Contribution, proof of such is required.
