I was always interested in caring for others who were vulnerable and needed additional care. This course equipped me with the qualities to support individuals with autism, mental health issues and intellectual disabilities. I learned many skills, how to communicate, support individuals who are non-verbal whilst creating Person Centred Plans to help the individual live their best possible life with minimum limitations. I’m currently working in a Social Care setting. Without studying this one-year course, I would have found it extremely difficult to understand and communicate with individuals with a disability, mainly Autism. I have since progressed onto third level education as a result of achieving my Level 6 Award.
